چکیده

Understanding the genetic architecture of complex traits is major thrust in plant breeding programs. Hence, present investigation was carried out at a dry land farm S.V. Agricultural College, Tirupati during rabi, 2020 to elucidate gene action governing seed yield, yield related and earliness blackgram. The experimental material consisted six generations viz., P1, P2, F1, F2, B1 B2 five blackgram crosses LBG-752 x TBG-104, PU-31, TU-40, TU-40 TBG-104 IPU-2-43 TBG-104. scaling tests suggested that simple additive–dominance model inadequate elucidating all for traits. Generation mean analysis based on parameter made evident interactions varied cross-wise as well character-wise. A  complementary type epistasis observed majority attributing traits, while days 50 % flowering maturity had duplicate cross combinations. High yielding short duration varieties could be developed by exploiting both additive non-additive effects set through inter-mating desirable transgressive segregants early followed pedigree selection. Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis for Yield and Yield Components in Blackgram (vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper)

Correlation coefficient and path analysis studies was conducted with eight parents and their 28 F1 crosses for twelve component characters including seed yield and revealed significant positive association of pods per plant, harvest index and clusters per plant with seed yield in parental generation whereas in F1 generation, significant positive association of clusters per plant, pods per plant...

Inheritance of Qualitative Traits and Their Linkage in Blackgram [vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper]

Four parents (Mash 1, Mash 3, MM 33-40, and 45726) were used to study inheritance of four qualitative characters, i.e., pubescence, seed coat colour, presence of spots on the seed coat and pod colour. All the four traits revealed monogenic nature of inheritance segregating in Mandelian ratio (3:1). The hairiness pattern was observed dominant over non-hairiness; brown seed coat colour dominant o...

155 Blackgram or urdbean (Vigna mungo [L.] Hepper) is an important grain legume with easily digestible protein and low flatulence contents. It is highly prized pulse, rich in phosphoric acid. Grain of Black gram grain contains about 25% protein, 56% carbohydrate, 2% fat, 4% minerals and 0.4% vitamins. Urd is said to have originated in India where it is most widely grown and highly esteemed grai...

Relationship of Induced Variability with Production of High Yielding Mutants in Blackgram [vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper]

Three doses each of Gamma – rays, EMS, NG, MH and in combination were administered to the seeds of morphologically and genetically distinct blackgram varieties, PU-30 and Sarala In M2 generation most treatment populations exhibited reduction in mean and increase in variance for all six quantitative traits and among the mutagens NG and combined treatments induced more variability in both the var...

Genetic diversity as assessed by ISSR markers in Blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper)

An investigation was carried out on a collection of 23 blackgram genotypes involving 16 released varieties, six pre release cultures and one wild species Vigna mungo var. silvestris to study the genetic diversity using twelve ISSR primers. The number of alleles produced by different ISSR primers ranged from eight to 17 with an average of 11.5 per primer and the level of polymorphism was found t...
